Must See "For The 'Gram" Spots in Chicago
I can't tell you how many messages I get asking for the best places to take family or friends who want to take in Chicago while living like a local. But what we're all looking for are the experiences that make Chicago unique and completely photograph-able.
The city's architecture and deep history throughout every neighborhood are mesmerizing - but how do you soak it all up in one trip? You came to the right place to find out!
The View
Start with soaking up the gorgeous skyline from the Lincoln Park Zoo overlook.
The Ride
Just a few blocks over, you can cross the path from Lincoln Park onto the lakeshore path. Rent a Divvy and ride south towards Navy Pier. (Check out my bike tips here)
Soak in the sights of Lake Michigan lapping at the shores and feel the breeze in your hair as the sun shines down on you and take in the city as it grows bigger and bigger. Keep riding south after exploring Navy Pier and make your way to the Cloud Gate (duh, I have to put this in here or would I even be doing my job?!)
The Drinks
Park your bike and walk a few blocks to Hero Coffee bar - their Dark Matter roast will blow you away! The cute little nook with cafe and marquee lights whisk you off into a little hide away that is perfectly instagrammable.
The Neighborhood
Take a water taxi from downtown all the way to China Town for $10 round trip! Significantly cheaper than the architecture boat tours (which are absolutely worth your time!) you'll get to see many of the same sights for a third of the price! The fun isn't only downtown and China Town has SO much to offer. Explore Ping Tom Park for a different skyline view and check out this post of my favorite places in this great neighborhood.
Travel back
Make your way back to Lincoln Park via the red line and save some room for an amazing, one-of-a-kind pizza pot pie. Pizza Oven Grinder is a very popular cash-only restaurant with deep history and ceiling to floor deep mahogany. Show up early, the place is packed once it opens at 4pm and they do not take reservations!
Afterwards take in one last skyline view at the J. Parker. You won't be dissappointed!
