GIRL'S WEEKEND | RELAXING GET-AWAY
I found ACME Hotel a few months ago when I stumbled onto an Instagram event at their bar and lounge, Bodega. I loved the atmosphere: plush chairs, mood lighting, fireplace, record player, plus a great bar and bar tenders. With a delightful bakery next door, the 70’s themed hotel was a striking vibe that stood apart from other hotels in Chicago.
ACME sponsored an overnight stay in their king suit for our girl’s weekend and we had a BLAST. The plush robes, kitchenette, lush bathroom, excellent view, and prime location to all the fun downtown, we were living the DREAM. Did you know they send complimentary fresh coffee from their café to your door in the morning? It was the perfect wake-up call as we got mom ready for her spa treatment at the Dana Spa.
Mom chose the Dana Spa’s Cryo Face Treatment and she was blown away by the menu of services they offered! Upon entering the locker room they provided a comfy robe, plush slippers to wear and take home, a myriad of self-care items should you need them, and carried her off to the relaxation room. Once they tucked her in with a luscious blanket in the dim room playing relaxing music, she enjoyed a short wait before they whisked her off for relaxation.
“I really liked it! Basically, they shoot CO2 into your skin. It’s a little prickly but it buffed away all my wrinkles. It lasts way longer than an average facial and by the time we finished, I could see a visible difference! Even throughout the day as we walked around the city, I could feel my face tightening and removing the wrinkles. I felt so relaxed from the atmosphere, I would definitely go again!”
Once her treatment was finished we took a short walk to the Chicago Riverwalk and watched the boats and people pass by during the early Sunday morning. We soon became hungry and scoped out Wheat’s End Café which is an incredible gluten-free restaurant in Lakeview East. If you’re looking for a restaurant that is accommodating to various dietary restrictions, this is the one!
We spent the afternoon at the rooftop pool at LVAC, where I used a few guest passes and we loved soaking up the sun, feeling the light breeze, and chatting the afternoon away before dinner. I’ve been a part of the gym for over 2 years now and have loved the amenities that come with a membership. A rock climbing wall, dance classes, yoga classes, two pools and a Jacuzzi. Don’t get me started on the women’s locker room because I could live in there. Basically, this place is my home away from home.
For dinner we tried out Safe House and thank God they had some open spots at the bar because I completely forgot to set a reservation. Don’t do that. ALWAYS SET A RESERVATION! It was quite an experience because I had no idea what to expect but my family and I loved it. The spy themed restaurant really pulled out all the stops. The atmosphere, the servers, the food: the entire experience was inspired. They willingly accommodated any food concerns my family had and their burger was fantastic.
Where would you go for a long weekend in Chicago? Tell me all about it!
