Rainy Day Playlist | Chicago

Don’t you hate it when you finally have the day to yourself to explore but wake up to find it’s raining outside? Ugh, the worst. Most people try to find a restaurant to wait out the rain: because Chicago’s weather changes so frequently! You can always grab an umbrella at the corner Walgreens to keep exploring (just make sure it's strong because those lake winds just might blow you away!)

Without further-ado, here’s my rainy day playlist so you can keep the fun going even when it’s gross outside.

Educate yourself:

This museum presents various histories of Chicago. The Chicago World Fair, the first El car, the foundation of Chicago Blues, and the diversity of Chicago. Bonus, Tuesday's are free for Illinois Residents!

This beautiful center is free at all times and the architecture is breathtaking! With multiple art displays that cycle through, it's always fresh for your next visit! I love their multiple coves to hideaway to enjoy some quiet in the heart of downtown. Bonus, they offer free wifi throughout the building so you can work amidst the inspiration that is the Cultural Center of Chicago!

A museum built for families but open for all ages! I love sitting in the butterfly room, especially early in the morning when it's feeding time! It is so calming to sit in the stillness while they flutter around you. Take in their beautiful outdoor sanctuary or take advantage of their free admission for Illinois residents on Thursdays! There is free street parking outside the museum that makes the experience all the more enjoyable.

Sip n' Stay:

This place is really special for many reasons. A completely wifi-free zone, Kibbitz is a book/game cafe that offers endless possibilities. Hungry? They have sandwiches. Hankering for a warm cup of coffee? They got you. Savoring something for your sweet tooth? They have ice cream! And drinks!

Aside from the wifi-free zone, my favorite part is how they highlight different artists in the community with their monthly events. Independent artists from Chicagoland as well as nights featuring other local creative talent, it really offers an all-day hideaway if you need. Did I mention free parking?!

Yummmmmmm. Yes, these entrees were only for me.

Uncommon Ground is very similar to Kibbitznest, in the way they offer local musical entertainment. Uncommon Ground provides events more frequently and their menu of comfort food will whoo you to a food coma once you glance at their spread. As I've mentioned before in an Instagram post, they are extremely accommodating to different dietary needs. A short walk away from the corners of entertainment near Wrigley, this is a great hideaway from game days.
